Through the programs of the Cultural Arts Center, we seek to improve cultural literacy, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and to build bridges between the arts, cultural studies, and all disciplines concerned with the expression of culture. We seek to acknowledge the differences and similarities between our own cultures and those surrounding us. In order to meet this mission, the CAC provides a comprehensive program focusing on the cultural intersection of the arts, sciences, humanities, and social sciences, and the influence of human culture on the natural and built environments. We examine traditional and contemporary indigenous, American, and international cultural expression through presentation of music, theatre, dance, cultural exhibitions, film, lectures, forums and cultural exhibitions. Through less formal gatherings we encourage opportunities for our students, the community, faculty, and staff to gather and engage in discussions about our own and other cultures.

Directions to The Culture Arts Center
By Car:

Take I-495 West to Exit 31 or East to Exit 31B, Georgia Avenue South (Route 97). Continue south on Georgia Avenue past the Colesville Road (Route 29) intersection. Following the signs for Montgomery College, turn left (East) on Sligo Avenue. Follow Sligo Avenue to Fenton Street; turn right. Continue (southbound) on Fenton Street through the traffic light at Philadelphia Avenue (Route 410). The campus itself begins one block farther at New York Avenue and Fenton Street.

By Metro Rail:

Take Red Line train to Silver Spring station, then transfer to Ride On Bus Route 17 or 18.

By Metrobus:
The campus is served by both Ride On Bus and Metrobus routes with connections to Metrorail.

PARKING
Enter campus complex via King Street or Jessup Blair Drive from Georgia Avenue.Acceptable Parking Places When Attending a Performance: West Parking Garage or Lot W-1You must park in a legal space (do not park in pre-labeled spaces such as “Dean”). Watch out for parking on the end of parking rows. You must be between two parking space lines. If you are parked in an illegal space you will be ticketed.

WEST PARKING GARAGE:
Enter via Jessup Blair Drive (quicker) or King Street, drive straight then turn into garage. ENTER-- Public Parking garage entrance (not faculty staff entrance). After parking, take the King Street elevator at the north end of the structure, and it's a very short walk to the CAC up King Street. W-1 LOT is located directly behind the Cultural Arts Center. Enter via King Street (quicker) or Jessup Blair Drive. If entering via Jessup Blair,continue around underneath the far end of the parking garage.
